Louise and James’ Cave Castle Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

As one of the fabulous Cave Castles recommended wedding photographers it is always a pleasure to be shooting there with a lovely couple and their family and friends, and I’m happy to say that Louise and James’ Cave Castle Wedding day was just that!

Starting at Louise’s home in Preston, East Yorkshire I captured the bridal preparations with her entourage of lovely bridesmaids. The stunning dress was by the excellent Bridal Boutique in Sutton, Hull and the flowers by the Floral Lounge, also of Sutton. It was then off to Preston All Saints to meet with the main man James, and his attendants!

With perfect timing, Louise was whisked to church by East Riding Cars and was escorted by her Father for the beautiful and emotional wedding ceremony to begin.

Following the ceremony, I quickly captured the main groups together and after  shooting some intimate images back in the church,  we were on our way to the stunning Cave Castle venue for the reception and wedding breakfast. I have photographed almost 200 weddings at Cave Castle Hotel, so I know all the special places to shoot no matter what the weather and timings, so even though we had a little rain on the day, it was no problem at all to capture some beautiful memories. Having a great relationship with the Cave Castles staff like I do, helps keep the day flowing nicely too.

Following welcome drinks, I swiftly gathered and shot the remaining groups (quickly and efficiently taking the wedding guest groups is something I am well known for!) then I captured some more reportage images, whilst the happy couple mixed and met their guests.

The now very relaxed couple then joined me for a session of classic, yet very funky, photography around and inside the fabulous buildings and grounds, before our top toast master Mike Wall introduced them with his own brand of cheering, leading them into their reception.  A typically fab cave castle wedding breakfast followed and some great speeches from the top table which had a great mix of emotion and comedy to keep the room entertained.

After a break mixing with their guests (and a good few drinks!) the very happy (and now full of food too!) couple chose to have another relaxed and very different photo session with me. This is where my vast experience of over 1300 weddings comes in, and still managing to make each wedding different to the last.

A great night with DJ Steve Jackson was had dancing the night away (see images below!) and to finish things off, some of my specialist night time shots. A great day and evening with a lovely couple, top crowd and amazing venue. Please checkout some  images from the wedding below and also have a look at my wedding portfolio pages on the website, and if you are looking to book your wedding at Cave Castle please feel free to give me a call for your photography needs.

The Wedding of Sarah and Steven at Carlton Towers

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

Very recently I had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Sarah and Steven at Carlton Towers. As you can see from the gallery below, the couple were perfect for my easy going and contemporary style of wedding and portraiture!

Sarah and Her 3 stunning bridesmaids and flower girl all prepared in Carlton Towers beautiful Bridal Suite with hair and make up by the fab Catherine Elizabeth and the Bride wearing a lovely dress by Mori Lee. The boys were suitably prepared and had plenty of time for a relaxing beverage (or two) to calm the nerves. As you can see, Steve was especially happy!

After an emotional entrance, Sarah and Steve tied the knot in one of Carlton Towers stunning Halls, the happy couple led out for some relaxed and stress free groups on the sweeping outside staircase. A great crowd of guests made this an absolute pleasure! Having personally photographed over 1300 top weddings, my vast experience allows me to capture your groups quickly and with no fuss. A well earned drinks break was followed by a effortless photo session with the now very chilled couple inside and out of Carlton Towers stunning surroundings, including the use of Carltons owners private gardens.

A fantastic wedding breakfast ( the lamb was to die for!) was followed by some cracking speeches with the 2 best men providing a real comedy duo. After a relaxing break it was on to the dance floor with a top band filling the floor for a great nights celebrations and plenty of chance for me to get my trademark stunning night time shots of  Sarah and Steve with Carton Towers in all  its glory!

As one of the areas most popular wedding photographers I have worked at most of the leading venues all over the country  and can safely say Carlton Towers is up with the best of them. Many thanks to the lovely Katy and the ever helpful Max for their work with me on the day to make Sarah and Steve’s day perfect.

Joanna and Michaels Sledmere House wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

Joanna and Michaels Sledmere House wedding

As one of the regions busiest wedding photographers, I recently had the pleasure of capturing Joanna and Michaels Sledmere House wedding.

I started the day with Mike and the lads; who I found having a couple of ‘confidence builders’ at the Goodmanham Arms (fabulous pint but I can’t partake on a wedding day!). Top set of lads, many of whom I know well from my rugby days at Beverley RUFC so I knew it was going to be a great day!

I then travelled across to the stunning Sledmere House (please check out my Sledmere House portfolio) which is located out near Driffield, and I was ready to capture the beautiful Joanna and her Bridesmaids preparations. The ceremony room at Sledmere House really is stunning, and I captured the real emotion of the couple (and guests!) during their service.

This was followed up nicely by drinks, canopies and the usual stress-free and relaxed group shots I am well known for.
FYI – Organising the groups so that they don’t take up too much time, is something that only comes with experience, something that after over 1300 weddings, I have in abundance!
Many thanks to the lovely Lisa and her top team at Sledmere House, who as always provided great professionalism and help on the day.

The very happy couple then had a very relaxed photo session with me around the stunning grounds and classic interiors of Sledmere House, a place I know well, before being whisked away to the Brides farm at Goodmanham for their reception. The fantastic tipi’s were supplied by the guys at Papakata Tipis – a well known and excellent local company – and the wonderful wedding breakfast cooked to perfection by my good friend John Benn at 2 chefs catering.  It’s always great when you’re working with people you know well, and after many years of working in this area I’m proud to say I’ve built some great relationships with lots of established wedding vendors across East Yorkshire.

To finish we had a brilliant set of speeches followed by a great night of dancing and fun which was the perfect end to a wonderful wedding day in the countryside. Another wedding that cemented how much I love by job!

Sara and Pauls Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel Wedding

Sara and Pauls Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of capturing Sara and Pauls Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel Wedding. Having worked at the Mercure Hull West many, many times and it being very close to my busy Beverley portraiture studio, it was always going to be a lovely day in East Yorkshire.

Starting with the bridal preparations at Sara’s Mums nearby home, I quickly relaxed all the wedding party [or was it the champers!] and set about informally capturing the beginning of what was to be a fantastic day.

The party was then whisked away by Chauffeur Luxury Cars [an excellent company I know well] to the Ferriby All Saints church, just outside of Hull, for a beautiful service. My assistant Trevor had already captured the guests arrivals, as well as shooting Paul and his lads relaxing before Sara’s big arrival.
As usual I shot the groups quickly and smoothly and sent them off to the Grange Park Hotel before taking the happy couple back into the church to record some relaxed and informal images.  Then I set off to join the guests for some relaxed reportage shots whilst the happy couple mixed with their friends and family. Even though there was some rain, my vast experience of organising and shooting at weddings in all weathers made sure it didn’t affect the smooth running and timings of the day – as you can see from the photos below we managed to get some great shots.

The Mercure Grange Park Hotel reception suite looked fabulous after its make over by the incredible Jill Fisher.  Then after a lovely intimate photo session with the couple in the extensive grounds and lovely interiors, we all partook in a delicious wedding breakfast – we’d all definitely earned the super food you’d expect from the Mercure chain of hotels.

After some top, top speeches I downloaded my images taken up until then, and dropped a couple onto facebook to let the world know how the day had been going, before returning to the fantastic evening celebrations to capture the first dance and then we moved into a night of dancing and fun for all.

Thanks as always to the Mercure Hull West top team for their great service and assistance, and to Sara and Paul for a fantastic wedding – if you like what you see, why not visit my full Mercure Hull West Grange Park Hotel Wedding Gallery.

Faith and Michael’s Dunedin Country House Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

 IMG_9081-1

As one of the most popular contemporary wedding photographers in Beverley and East Yorkshire, I recently had the privilege of capturing Faith and Michael’s Dunedin Country House wedding in Patrington near Hull.

The day started at Faiths parents lovely home for the bridal preparations and to calm the nerves of all concerned! Faith  was wearing a fantastic dress from the Bridal Boutique in Hull and her bridesmaids looked stunning as I left them to head for Marton Church to capture Michael and his entourage. I’ve shot hundreds of weddings, so my vast experience of timings and ceremonies allows me help my couples plan their days to perfection, and this day was no exception.

After a lovely ceremony, the very happy couple were whisked away by helicopter to the beautiful Dunedin House located near Hull, (whilst the rest of us followed on the ground!).  As I always try to do, I managed to capture the groups as quickly and smoothly as possible – keeping them to the minimum our couple required, so the photo’s didn’t take take over the day too much.

A drinks and mixing session followed for the guests, with me capturing the informal reportage images I am so well known for.  I then took Faith and Michael into Dunedin House’s lovely gardens for some relaxed and comfortable shots, and then we moved back indoors to shoot alongside the well renovated interiors of the house.  Then the couple had another chance to mix with their guests. before a wonderful wedding breakfast was served by Dunedin’s always excellent staff.

The day was rounded off with an evening disco, a fabulous firework display by the Fireworkers and a top buffet – including a special cheese board from Faiths favourite cheese mongers in Cheltenham.

Thanks to Helen, Simon and their team at Dunedin Country House for their top service and assistance – I’m already looking forward to my next wedding at Dunedin!

Hannah and Dominic’s Saltmarshe Hall Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

IMG_8294

As one of East Yorkshire’s leading wedding photographers, I recently had the privilege of photographing the lovely Hannah and Dominic’s Saltmarshe Hall wedding out in their lovely grounds near Howden.

I started by capturing the wedding preparations at Hannah’s home, which was a real pleasure with all 4 bridesmaids ready on time!
Then it was on to St Michael’s in Eastrington for a beautiful services – which unusually had both a vicar and a priest officiating, which was a nice touch.
As usual, we then took the group shots (smoothly and quickly) keeping them to the minimum the couple required, and most importantly for us, not taking over their whole day. We also captured many of the reportage and grab shots we are so well known for. I must say as well, that the flowers by local company All Occassions Howden were lovely and perfect for the day.

After a lovely session with the couple back in the church to give them some quality time together, we set off to the stunning Saltmarshe Hall.

In the short time Katie and her fantastic team have been in Saltmarshe Hall they have turned it in to one of Hull and Eat Yorkshire’s premier wedding venues with lovely interior, huge landscaped gardens and a lake and river! Please visit my Saltmarshe Hall Wedding gallery page to see more shots from this great venue.

Hannah and Dominic guests had already arrived in their own vintage bus – which was a brilliant addition to the day –  so after a drink and time to mingle, I took the happy couple for a relaxed and easy photo session around the grounds and riverbank. We had already had a pre wedding photoshoot at my fabulous Beverley studio so they knew exactly what to do! After a delicious wedding breakfast the speeches were held in Saltmarshe Halls grand hallway (see the attached image below – a unique touch that worked great in a photo) making a fantastic setting for guests to remember.
We stayed for the evening celebrations and dancing (why wouldn’t we!) and took the now totally relaxed couple for an evening shoot to capture more of the contemporary, imaginative images that have been loved and cherished by my 1300 couples before.

Saltmarshe Hall is definitely a fantastic venue to capture my unique relaxed style of photography, and will be working again there soon – have a look at some of the photos from this amazing day below.

Kim and Shaun’s wedding at the Rowley Manor

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

IMG_1084-3

I have had the pleasure of capturing the lovely Kim and Shaun’s wedding photography at the Rowley Manor Hotel, near Little Weighton, Hull.

Kimberley swept up Rowley Manors winding drive in style from her home in Hull in one of Stotts Wedding Cars, who I work with regularly and are a pleasure to know. The Bride shone in a dress by the talented Deborah Moore and the  flowers by her Nan worked perfectly to compliment the fantastic Rowley Manor and its gardens. Shaun was very relaxed and with his 2 best men enjoyed a few pre wedding drinks and photos!

After the ceremony , I kept the groups to a simple minimum so as not to take over the day and then after a break to mix with their guests, and then took them off for some relaxed and easy going images in and around Rowley Manors stunning interiors and large well kept gardens. With the  couple most definitely in love, the shoot was an absolute pleasure! Having captured well over 100 weddings at Rowley Manor, I know the hotel, its grounds and its professional and attentive staff very well, so finding those special places to shoot my imaginative work is easy, no matter what the weather and timings.

The lovely couple loved my style of mixing casually posed classic images with relaxed reportage to capture those off guard and special moments. After a lovely wedding breakfast  (and a well earned rest!) our happy couple danced the night away in to the early hours, with myself capturing the fun of course!

Feel free to share the posts and photos – and please check out my Rowley Manor wedding gallery for other shots from this great venue.

Emma and Matthew’s Lazaat Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

Having photographed many, many beautiful and relaxed weddings at this fabulous location, it was a pleasure to capture Emma and Matthews Lazaat Wedding at the weekend. As Lazaat hotel’s preferred photographer – and being chosen by the venue to capture their top wedding packages – I always look forward to working at this lovely venue.

I started the day with Emma and her party as they prepared in Lazaat’s top suites, and with my vast wedding experience I was able to ensure ensure everything ran smoothly, without fuss and on time. The happy couples young daughter Skye was on top form and remembered me (“my best Mate!”) from our free pre wedding shoot that we always like to do to get to know our couple well. The theme was top hat and tails with all the Bridal party wearing converse basketball boots (my personal fave’s) so we knew it was going to be an upbeat and funky wedding!

After dancing their way into Lazaat’s Pavilion Suite, the wedding party enjoyed a lovely service with the Beverley Registrars before heading for Lazaat’s beautiful gardens. As usual,  I captured the groups first with little fuss keeping them to a minimum – as wanted by the couple. One of the advantages of having photographed so many weddings at Lazaat is I know all of those special places to shoot whatever the weather and timings.

Matthew then surprised his new Bride with one of her favourite VW campervans he had arranged for the day. Good move, Matthew! After a relaxed and easy ‘couples shoot’ we joined the rest of the party  to continue capturing the ‘reportage images’ I am so well known for, before enjoying a fantastic Lazaat wedding breakfast and a night to remember for all involved.

Thanks as usual to Lazaats friendly and professional staff (I know them well) and see you all next week!

Sarah & Neils Tickton Grange Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

As one of Beverley’s, Hull and East Yorkshire’s most contemporary wedding photographers, it was a pleasure to recently capture Sarah & Neils Tickton Grange wedding at one of my favourite and most visited locations. After their lovely ceremony at Winterton All Saints including a surprise gospel choir, the happy couple were whisked by the fantastic Alan Marshall’s wedding cars to the Tickton Grange in real style!

The weather was very kind and we worked around the few showers knowing Maggy and her totally professional team at the Grange know our smooth timings well after the hundreds of weddings [literally!] I have covered at this great venue before. The flowers were by the wonderful Sarah Slator and to complete this A-team gathering, the beautiful cake from Incredible Cake Creations by Jill Fisher. As usual, I kept the group shots to a minimum only taking what Sarah and Neil really wanted and not letting it take over the day.

After capturing some beautiful relaxed images of our couple, we rejoined the party whilst I carried on recording the casual reportage shots I am so well known for.

After a lovely meal and the speeches made, I took the now very comfortable couple out into the extensive Tickton Grange gardens for some very relaxed evening shots followed by a brilliant first dance and partied into the night! After working at the Tickton Grange so many times and knowing the staff so well, its always reassuring to know whatever the weather or time, I will always know where and how to capture great images with the minimum of fuss.

Have a look below at some of the great shots we got from the wedding… and don’t forget to share them on pinterest or facebook!

As you can see from the images we had a great day with Sarah and Neil at Tickton Grange and the pictures turned out perfectly for this fantastic couple.

Jane & Graham’s Cave Castle Wedding

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

Cave Castle Wedding

As one of Beverley and Hull’s leading wedding photographers, I recently had the pleasure of shooting the wedding for the lovely Jane and Graham at the stunning Cave Castle in South Cave, East Yorkshire. Having photographed literally hundreds of weddings at Cave Castle, I know every nuck and crannie of the beautiful building and its extensive grounds and lake, so I knew I could guarantee fantastic images whatever the weather may throw at us!

Luckily the weather was perfect and after capturing the Bridal preparations with Jane (and her gang!) at their local home it was off to meet Graham for some shots of the boys getting ready.

Jane’s stunning dress was from top local dress designer (and very good friend of mine) Deborah Moore and her flowers by one of my regular work with, the talented Floral Lounge. Also, working with me on the day was the brilliant Phil Wilson Videographer (know as Weddings By Wilson), who you wouldn’t know was there and never gets in the way!

I know all of Cave Castles staff  very well having worked with them all many times which as usual helped Jane and Graham’s day flow effortlessly and our timings as usual perfect together. A very in love couple and a up for it crowd made for a great day and evening with many a lifted Kilt and much laughter!
