Wedding photography updates in Hull by stephen armishaw photography of Beverley , Hull and the East Yorkshire

Just finished our first same sex wedding of the year with the lovely Neil and Imi at the lovely Cave Castle. Very emotional day and lots of  beautiful reportage images capturing the intimacy of their special day. All wedding images were live within 2 days of the wedding, even faster than our normal super fast 4 days! Being a full time photographer and not having to fit work around another full time job (and using a full time graphic artist!) give me the ability to concentrate on getting great images to you quickly, (I know you cant wait!).

Looking forward to two lovely weddings tomorrow and Saturday with Sofia and Sam at the funky Lazaat and Katie and Mike at the lovely Hallmark Hull. I have created fantastic wedding photography at both of these top venues many, many times, but as usual will be looking to capture new and imaginative images as every wedding is different!

Nearly finished downloading our latest landscape and art images on to this site, (take a look at my fine art and landscape section). Big new developments coming soon on my landscape and fine art side of my business, keep your eye on here and watch facebook stephen armishaw photography for daily updates.

My modern custom built Beverley portrait studio is as busy as ever with our popular £10 full  portraiture sessions leading the way. Clients love the relaxed, no obligation, no hard sell way we work which results in lots of referrals and rebookings. Im also a big believer in no gimmicks to get you through the door! As usual model portfolios and top ups are very popular and are from only £49 (free if we think you have a great look or idea for a shoot), check out my portfolios on purple ports. Bumps to baby sessions are always a lovely and relaxed session.

Capturing the wedding of my old mate Bob and his lovely partner Fay at Cave Castle this Saturday. I have photographed many, many weddings at the Cave Castle over the years and their beautiful grounds and interiors make it a pleasure.

One of the main reasons for booking myself as your wedding photographer is the confidence and experience I bring from over 1300 weddings in all styles and types and whatever the weather!!

I am still running our Charity portraiture sessions at my top Beverley studio until the end of March. The £10 sitting fee is given to the RSPCA or a charity of your choice and includes any Mothers day sessions. Please ring 01482 868065 to enquire or book.

IMG_1622 2x  Lovely day out with Mark and Sandra at their Beverley wedding and onto the westwood restaurant. A very intimate and emotional wedding with lots of tears and laughter. This wedding was so intimate I was one of the witnesses! Having been a Beverley wedding photographer for over 20 years, knowing the locations to shoot is second nature and always a pleasure.

Questions you may want to ask your wedding photographer.N0.6

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

all is my opinion

Look at the photographers wedding (and other) work, then REALLY look at it! Is it REALLY different? I know its an old cliche, but the difference is the difference. Is there just a lot of nice shots of  wedding shoes and dresses and not many fantastic shots of the people in them! If they are claiming to be “art” images, make sure its not an excuse for badly composed, badly exposed snaps (a poor shot is a poor shot, no matter how its explained away!) A photographer trained in photographic art does not automatically make a wedding photographer (as much as some would like to think!)

If their wedding style is reportage or fly on the wall make sure they have the personality to create some groups and beautiful images with the minimum of fuss and effort as they dont just happen. Most fantastic wedding images are created and not left to chance. A photographer(s) hoping something will happen is more likely to disappoint. The result of an average/inexperienced photographer taking his mate/wife/girlfriend along to help , will generally provide you with twice as many average/inexperienced images to choose from!

I have been blessed with a great sense of well placed humour and the ability to relax the most nervous of  wedding couples and guests. Combining this with a vast knowledge of all photographic styles, drawn from over 1200 weddings, I would invite you to pop down to visit my Beverley studio nr Hull and let me help you have a fantastic day. I hope these posts will help you make an informed choice on the person to capture your wedding day, and remember, if your not sure dont be afraid to ask!!

Wedding photographer questions. No.4

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

All are of my opinion.

Question 4 is really a follow on from No 1. Its about EXPERIENCE, which I believe is one of the most important things your photographer must have.

When booking your photographer, you are paying for some one who can not only capture great images on a beautiful day, with a couple who love posing, fantastic location, loads of time and a bride who arrives on time, but some one who can still produce the same quality on a wet, cold day with a bride running 25 minutes late, an angry vicar, awful location and a groom who really doesnt want to be in any photos anyway! ( I know, Ive photographed that wedding!). Experience doesnt mean 10-20 weddings for mainly friends and family but hundreds, in all places and all conditions. Many wanna be snappers have seen a top pro such as myself working effortlessly through the day and think “easy money, I can do that”. Many Brides who have cut corners are now discovering that is not the case.

Ask your wedding photographer how much experience they REALLY have.  Ask to see weddings taken on a rainy, cold day. Ask to see real weddings, not set ups with their mates/models in dresses borrowed from the local bridal shop or photo shoots with the wedding dress designer. They have their place but not in portfolios or adverts for  real wedding photography.

Naive overconfidence should not be confused with professionalism brought about by that word again, EXPERIENCE.

Hannie and Jonathans East Yorkshire Wedding Photography

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

A perfect wedding day on Saturday with the beautiful Hannie and Jonathan. Top vicar Andy from St Augustines church nr Hull led the service followed by a fabulous reception and evening celebration at Rise Hall overseen by the totally professional Chris and his team. Dress from the Deborah Moore of Hull, flowers from Glenholme of Beverley and  Cars from Silver Lane of Hull all came together to create a brilliant day. The ever young Shaun Finch and his band rocked the evening wedding celebrations!

Wedding questions to ask your photographer. No.2

// Author: Stephen Armishaw // 0 Comments

Part 2 of my series of questions you may want to ask your potential wedding photograper. All are in my opinion.

Number 2

After paying your deposit for your wedding photography (in my case only £250), ask when you have to pay the remaining balance. In my case , we only ask for the rest of the fee two weeks AFTER  your wedding day when you have had time to enjoy them and my service provided. I have the confidence to know you will be completely happy with my work as with over 1200 wedding couples before you!

What other service or product asks for the full money up front (sometimes up to 3 months before!) I believe this came from when we wedding  photographers had to pay for film, developing and preveiw album straight away (I remember it well!), but as you know, the vast majority of wedding and portrait photographers shoot digitally with no outlay. Getting your money back if you are not happy with the service your wedding (or portrait) photographer can be an expensive and heart breaking process.

22look out for Question 3!
